Rawa Island (Malay: Pulau Rawa) is a coral island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. It is popular with tourists from Malaysia and Singapore, who come to enjoy its relatively unspoiled white sand beaches, snorkelling and scuba diving. Nearby islands include Harimau and Mensirip. There is a daily ferry service from Mersing.

"Rawa" is the local term for white doves, which are abundant in the island.

Rawa is a relatively small island. There are no proper roads, only a few walkways. One side of the island is a beach covered with white sand, while the other side has a rocky vertical cliff. The water is clear. There are many sea and land creatures such as fishes, squids, jellyfish, octopuses, Malayan sea eagles, and reptiles. Also sharks Blacktip reef sharks can be found feeding in the sea off rawa. Rawa's waters are home to an abundance of corals. there are 2 resorts on the island (Rawa Safaris and Alang's Rawa)

Rawa Island Resort  (peak season) and the price covers 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners and boat transfer. Just a friendly reminder, visitors to this resort are not allowed to bring foods or beverages from outside, otherwise you will be charged. Although the price is slightly higher as compare to other islands such as Tioman Island, Perhentian Island or Redang Island, however, if you come to the beach, you will feel that everything is just worth the price.

In Rawa Island, there is not many local and most of the visitors are foreign tourists. Most importantly that the island is not crowded and peaceful, it is definitely a good place to relax and enjoy.

Depart from Johor Bahru

We depart from Johor Bahru (JB), and the traveling time from JB to Mersing Jetty is around 2.5 hours. Our boat departs from Mersing Jetty at 9am and just because it is raining in the morning, so we have to depart earlier as planned. The jetty that departs to Rawa Island is just sitting next to the jetty departs to Tioman Island, the jetty owns a private parking area, for a fee of RM30 per car.
